I “floated” them up the staircase.
For now.
The hubby and I recently celebrated an anniversary. We have been married 46 wonderful years…ok, so it is really 23, but we always double it, you know, 'cause there are 2 of us. So we have been married {double} wonderful years, {half} for him and {half} for me! Well, maybe we are the only ones that have fun with that, but we do have fun!
Now I guess most of you would ask for diamonds and so forth and whatnot. But me? I wanted a little paper cutter. He brought me a huge one a long time ago. But I really just need little things cut most of the time. So I did something I don’t do very often. I asked for it. Why do I not do that very often? Because he would try his best to get it for me. And frankly, well, I just don’t need much.
And here it is:
Cute, right? It’s only 8 1/2” square. I’m really looking forward to using it. Uhm, he also surprised me one time with that little vintage silver-topped match strike.
And another time he brought me these vintage Van Briggles pottery candlesticks. You see, he brings me vintage things.
Here is another type of paper cutter he brought me a few months ago.
I’ve seen these old general store paper rollers/cutters in antique stores a lot, but I never really had a use for one. Until now.
She’s been at it almost since she was born. Her brother too! And they outgrow things.
Gumby does not outgrow things.
Sometimes, you can barely find the paper roller.
Yes, we do have fun! Thanks, Gumby! We love you!
I. LOVE. DOGS.
When I see something about a dog on Facebook or blogs or whatever, it grabs my attention. Of course I love the cute puppy pictures. Of course I love to laugh at funny dog videos. And of course my heart breaks when a beloved family pet is hurt or is lost.
Enough said.
I have finally gotten around to painting another of our precious dogs. You can read about Rusty here and Bulgier here.
This is Katy. She has been gone from us many years. She was a rescue and, although we were warned that she was probably too old and too sick to adopt, we did. She was the best dog ever, a light in our lives for 9 years. She had my husband, Tom, wrapped around her little paws. She was his favorite redhead. Tom, this is for you.
You know you want to see even more Christmas photos, right?
Here’s just a few more around my house.
I had just found this old chalkboard with chalk holder tray, so I just drew a tree on it for the holidays.
My hubby had recently bought this old thread spool holder for me, so I just made some beeswax candles and added a glittered crown.
These little shades were actually ornaments I bought several years ago. I just adjusted them by cutting off some of their pieces with wire cutters and put them on this little chandelier.
See?
How did this get in here? By the way, oatmeal is not my favorite breakfast in the world, but I do love this Oatmeal Raisin Cookie oatmeal by BetterOats.
Still love these bottle brush trees I bleached last year.
More white trees above my china cabinet.
I know you’ve already seen this tree, but here’s another little smidgeon. Looks like that icicle was Made in China.
And a framed map on the wall behind the tree.
I used some old bed springs and pieces to decorate some tiny trees.
Grandkids eyeing presents. I had to sneak in a photo of them.
Christmas tiny tea set.
The grandkids made a dry erase board for me!
Love it!
Hope you all had a marvelous and joyful Christmas!
And yes, we had snow for a White Christmas in Texas!
Meet Kringle.
He’s our household elf at Christmastime.
We’re grandparents, so he has a few more wrinkles and flaws than your standard elf on a shelf. Or maybe he is just tired.
But wait!
Elfie Gangnam Style!
Entirely too much TV.
The food is the same stuff they eat all the time, just in a different setting.
That is my brother, Reid.
Game of the Day: Put the Nose on Rudolph
Missed.
More snacks.
Just a little more sustenance for Reid.
More dancing.
More snacks.
And now, a project. Caroline says she loves glitter.
Tiny Christmas trees in snow globes, uh, I mean small salt shakers.
More dancing.
More Rudolph.
And they listened to The Nativity Story.
Can we have another tea party tomorrow?
