Makes Me Wanna Downsize!

OK, so this is just too cute! This article in the NY Times shows photos by Trevor Tondro of the cottage Sandra Foster remodeled. The story is interesting. It doesn't have a bathroom or a kitchen but it is so much fun to look at...especially for me right now juggling a move to a house, a remodel of a house and the sale of a house and oh yeah, moving shop inventory.

I think it is worthy of a White Wednesday hosted by Kathleen of Faded Charm! I love to go look at all the beautiful whites. Thanks, Kathleen!

Clamshell, Take Me Away!

I am going to try this again. My previous White Wednesday post seemed to be nothing new to bloggers out there. Since I have been sick and out of the loop, I guess I missed it. I still love it (Sandra Foster's tiny victorian cottage featured in the NY Times)!! Now let me show you what I bought with the Crate and Barrel gift certificate I won from Angela at The Painted House recently. I always wanted one of these giant clamshells and so I thought I would put it in my bathroom and fill it with handtowels. It reminds me a little of the Four Seasons hotel in Austin. They use baskets, but I just love going in there and seeing all those little towels rolled up. Of course, they have many, many more. Thanks again, Angela, for the giveaway!

Kathleen, I hope you don't mind if I post another entry for White Wednesday at Faded Charm!

I Need This Many Arms!

I was looking for something to join White Wednesday on Kathleen's Faded Charm blog and this painting just GRABBED me. Ha! I did not paint it....my daughter did.  I think she is very talented and has actually taught me how to have more fun with art!  This is a large (about 4'x 4') painting that she has hanging in a small grey hallway in her home.  I love the graphic quality and MOTION in it!
Now I am going to MOVE on over to see the other entries!

Don't just sit there!

I may be sick as a dog but that didn't stop my sale from starting last Wednesday at the shop: 25% off my inventory!

Silver Scotties

Today I wanted to join Gypsy Fish Journal for my first Silver Sunday. It will be brief, as I am in the midst of big moves! I found these Scotty salt and pepper shakers at a thrift store. I can't tell from the markings exactly what kind of silver they are, but I could not resist their cuteness!

The best part of all: (well, besides paying $1 each) at first I couldn't tell exactly how to fill them. Then I noticed that their tails unscrewed!

Thanks for hosting Silver Sunday, Beth!

Vintage + turquoise

They (who are "they" anyway?) say turquoise is a good color for this year. I have always loved a touch or a tad of turquoise. My favorite beads that I wear are turquoise. I have had good luck selling turquoise painted pieces the past few years. Sometimes people seem to want vintage with a little twist. Wish I had photos of them all, but here are a few examples:

This little vintage wine (or as I like to call it, martini!) table-- just sounds cuter

a little vintage plant stand and a brass candelabra

barley twist sideboard, the top had been damaged, so I had to do something to it

just had to add my own little gold painting to embellish

a little darker chest, still gold embellishing, though

a very primitive table with different shades

old logo

and my hubby and grandson in Seattle. OK, so I didn't paint the pole, but I couldn't resist it!

Since Mondays are usually blue, today I am linking with Melinda of Alabaster Rose Designs for Vintage Summer Mondays, and since these were all purchased in a thrifty manner, I am linking with Rhoda for Thrifty Treasures at Southern Hospitality AND since they all morphed into a different look, I am linking with Susan for Metamorphosis Monday at Between Naps on the Porch, so please stop by and see all their entries! Oh, and one more I'd like to add: Rory for Modern Craftswoman Monday at Tools are for Women Too! Thanks to all the hosts!

Announcement...

July 15th is the last day I will be selling at Bloom and Bee Swanky in Waco, Texas. More information to come. Please email me if you are a follower of mine within traveling distance and would like a 25% off coupon!

Thanks to Jodie at Everything Vintage for introducing me to this fun site PhotoFunia and Anne at Fiona and Twig who introduced Jodie to it. See how everybody networks!

She's a doll...

I just love these soft little white shoes.

Oh, and I love what they were
outfitting when I bought them at an estate sale nearly 30 years ago.

I am no doll expert, but many of you out there could probably tell
me quite a bit about her. At that time, all I knew is that she had belonged to a doctor's
little girl and was supposed to be really old.
She was the first doll I had ever seen that had teeth and real human
hair. She was wearing some old clothes that I kept but
I always had her dressed in this christening gown and cap I bought just for her.

My daughter never played with her...she had some Madame Alexander and Effanbee
dolls that were much more user friendly and she really preferred stuffed
animals to all of them! Sometimes don't you think you have to
grow up to really appreciate a doll?

Please be a doll and see what beauties are waiting under White Wednesday posts on
Kathleen's blog, Faded Charm! Thanks, Kathleen!
