A Creature Was Stirring
Somewhere in the house
I heard funny sounds
But it wasn’t a mouse
We’d loaded a tree
The new skinny one
Bought just for them
We’d had so much fun
And so we decided
To put out more trees
But I’d promised a surprise
And I’d heard their pleas
In this high-tech world
We all need a break
And they get such a kick
Out of things that they make
So Christmas came early
For Caroline and for Reid
Those tiny hands held chalk
And erasers they’d need
So the sounds I had heard
Weren't musical chords
Twas chalk clickety-click
On new, old chalkboards!
Merry Christmas everyone!

as I sit here quietly sipping my coffee.
The season IS about children both big and small
