Markings Memorialized Mosaic

You know how we are always trying to organize our memories? Photos, children's art, greeting cards, vacation mementos....the list goes on and on. Well, being a long-time collector of antique dishes, I've had to lighten the load, shall we say. I still love them and I'll guarantee you I will LOOK at them in an antique store. I still have some and I do like to decorate with them. Tastes do change and I like different ones now. But a while back, I made a mosaic of broken dishes. (I did not break mine--what I used was already broken). I liked the idea of placing some of the pieces backwards that showed the china markings. That way, maybe I can always REMEMBER some of my collections. Also, for my taste, I liked using monochromatic colors of white and beige instead of using all bright colors.

Of course, it is a little hard to eat soup on it.

Before I FORGET it, I want to link with Kathleen at Faded Charm for White Wednesday and then go for a look there...so much beauty, so little time!

Hi there
I love your mosaic piece you created, I tried my hand at that a couple of years ago and it is hard to get them all even. You did a great job and so beautiful - I also love the white and creams

Thank you for your comment on my art... It does not hole up to your fabulous piece. It will match my place perfectly.

You know if I were a Mosaic piece of any colors those are the tones I would want to be. Wow! tone on tone and I cannot get enough of that nothing color.

I have only done one piece of mosaic in all my life...I am sure I could do it, but by the time I get around to it they trend has faded...Now it is BACK and you have inspired me to try my hand at it. maybe I could do a sign with words and my birds?? Oooooh! Calm down Dore...You better start out small like a stepping stone:)

Keep on inspiring us with your beautiful things.

Oh wow, that's beautiful! You did a great job, mosaic pieces are really expensive to buy! My MIL gave me a broken plate so I've been wanting to try my hand at this but I'm nervous!

Happy WW:)

Mosaic work has all my respect and admiration...I did a dinning table once and I promised that was the last time. I kept my promise and there is NOT chance and I'll break it!!! Your piece is just gorgeous!!!

Hmmm.... I can see how the soup eating might get a little difficult... LOLOL

That is gorgeous!!! I can't discuss dishes - I'd have to admit to how many I have, how many I keep adding... how many I keep seeing and feeling like I can't leave sitting all lonely and sad in a junk pile...

geesh. Did I say that I like your mosaic? :-)

I've always wanted to try this but could never find the right piece. I've got a wooden box full of broken dishes that I've saved for the day it finally hits me what to do. Love it!

How clever that you turned the piece over to show the marking on the back! Love that idea and your piece is so pretty in the white and beige tones.

What a great idea of the mosaic! And the markings - now that is really clever. Beautiful soft neutral colors. Linda
