Is it trumeau? Heck, No.

For a long time now, I have wanted a trumeau mirror. I thought just the word “trumeau” looked and sounded fancy. I also was somewhat confused about its definition. Architecturally, it seems that it is a section of a wall or pillar between two openings. It seems that the French or maybe some other Europeans long ago made mirrors out of these pieces of architecture. So a trumeau mirror has a painted or carved panel above or below the glass in the same frame. That is from the dictionary. They can be pretty pricey, let me tell you. Even the reproductions. And when it says trumeaux, it is even pricier (because that is the plural spelling)! Ha! Being the kind of person that I am (frugal, thrifty, conservative) o.k., cheap, I knew it was not in my future to own one. So when I bought this mirror

from a hotel liquidator, I had a plan in mind. It supposedly came from The Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. That’s a story in itself. It was obviously attached to a dresser or something. I thought it looked pretty as it was, but I could not get these off my mind:

It’s not easy being cheap. At the price I paid, I guess it would be spelled “ troo-mo meer.”
